The week begins with a bang. On 10 July, the Sun in Cancer comes into direct opposition with Pluto in Capricorn. You can’t get much more oppositional than this: the Sun brings life, warmth and comfort, whilst Pluto is shadowy, secretive and often violent in its transformative effects. Furthermore, Cancer represents alpha female energies, whereas Capricorn signifies male-centred power structures.
Get ready for power struggles, violent outbursts, and angry showdowns as deep grudges reach a boiling point.
The outcomes of these confrontations will reveal themselves in the days and weeks to come. Folks with water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) in important positions in your birth charts, you could be particularly affected. Tread water as carefully as you can – and swim away from conflict whenever possible.
Let’s get to This Week’s Tarot!
LEFT: SIX OF RODS REVERSED. When this card appears upside-down, beware of taking on more than you can bear. The reversed Six of Rods also represents a conditional and/or incomplete victory, an achievement that didn’t quite satisfy you because it failed to hit the mark. Under some circumstances, it represents inadequate recognition or even a poor response in return for your hard work, and a subsequent loss in confidence.
You may not be able to control every circumstance, much less every person’s behaviour, but you can control your own actions. The question is how.
MIDDLE: NINE OF RODS. To answer the question of How?: when this card appears, things may be tense around you. This is a great time to practice mindful detachment from the outcomes of a situation, whilst working hard to achieve the results you desire. Remember to breathe, think before you speak, and practice healthy boundary-setting. Be careful with how and where you expend your energies: burnout is possible when this card appears.
RIGHT: THE EMPRESS REVERSED. The Empress indicates the presence and value of feminine energies in your life, but these energies are not being well utilised. You’re either neglecting the Divine Feminine by over-relying on masculine systems (e.g. valuing logic over emotion), or you’re over-indulging these feminine energies (e.g. being a micro-manager or petty drama queen).
Either way, Mama ain’t happy or balanced, and it shows.
This week, remember that sometimes it’s better to be kind than to be right. First start by being kind to yourself – placed next to the Nine of Rods, the reversed Empress can signify a state of distress or exhaustion. In situations like these, a time-out can do wonders for your state of mind and perspective of matters: it’s easier to be understanding and compassionate when you’ve had enough rest and a healthy meal.
The Empress represents our inner Goddess, that Divine spark within all of us (male and female), the still, small voice that speaks love, light and wisdom to us if only we would listen.
This week, take a break if you need one, and listen to your soul. Then Let your intuition lead the way.
Have a great week ahead!
