On Thursday 29 December, we welcome the final New Moon of the Year in ambitious Capricorn: a great time to start on resolution planning for 2017. New Moons carry with them the energy of new beginnings, and a New Moon in Cardinal Earth sign Capricorn encourages us to focus on practical, productive concerns.
Bear in mind, however, that the Mercury retrograde is in Capricorn as well. No big shakes, folks, just take care to make your #2017goals clear, honest, and as focused on the greatest good as possible. It’s all well and good to aspire towards a job promotion, getting married, and/or moving house in 2017, but what are your intentions in doing so? Be honest with yourself about where you are right now and where you want to be this time next year – that’s the first step to attaining your goals. You can do this!
“BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW AND WHERE YOU WANT TO BE THIS TIME NEXT YEAR.”
Here we go, for the last time in 2016 – This Week’s Tarot!
LEFT: SEVEN OF SWORDS. This card is often associated with dishonest and secretive behaviour. Known as the Thief’s Card, the message here is that what you think, feel, say or do when you think no one’s looking, in order to achieve your agenda and evade detection, will often be exposed to the public gaze in surprising (not to say embarrassing) ways.
In this spread, I’m getting the vibe that Spirit is encouraging us to leave old issues and shameful secrets behind as we say good riddance bye to 2016. It could be depression, an addiction, bad debts, an affair; if you have been living a lie and you’re afraid to let others know about it, perhaps it’s time to let go of the inner demon(s) and seek help. There’s no shame in getting assistance to turn your life around for the better. A New Year beckons, and a new you. Don’t let the old lies and secrets steal your joy.
“IF YOU HAVE BEEN LIVING A LIE… PERHAPS IT’S TIME TO LET GO OF THE INNER DEMON(S) AND SEEK HELP.”
MIDDLE: THE STAR REVERSED. When this card appears ill-dignified (upside-down), you may be feeling bogged down by a general sense of pessimism and dread of what 2017 might bring. So much has happened in 2016 that many of us have little idea of what to expect next. However, The Star is still a powerfully positive omen even when reversed. Spirit encourages us to open the eyes of our hearts – blessings are still around us. Hope springs eternal. The question is, how do we act on this potential for good?
RIGHT: KNIGHT OF CUPS REVERSED. Here’s the Tarot’s advice for us as we embark on a new journey in 2017. The Knight of Cups is associated with passionate, emotionally-driven action. He’s the romantic ideal: the Knight in shining armour. When he’s upside-down, Spirit warns us against allowing our ideals and emotions to cloud the clarity of our intentions.
In other words, don’t let your feelings mislead you into making bad decisions. And if you’ve been using trendy catchphrases like I need to attain self-actualisation or I’m pursuing my passions and stepping into my power to justify dumbass choices and shitty, self-absorbed behaviour*, seriously. Grow up. No one is buying your shtick, and you can’t fool the Universe.
“SPIRIT WARNS US AGAINST ALLOWING OUR IDEALS AND EMOTIONS TO CLOUD THE CLARITY OF OUR INTENTIONS. DON’T LET YOUR FEELINGS MISLEAD YOU INTO MAKING BAD DECISIONS.”
2017 is at the door. Time to put away the old mindsets, practices and choices that dragged you down and blocked your access to your highest and greatest good. You deserve only the best, Co-Creator of your own destiny! It’s in your hands now – what will you do?
Have a great week ahead!
